Brainspotting, EMDR, Expressive Art
Often when we seek a therapy process, we are seeking some change in our lives. No matter what your past, present, or future challenges may be, I will collaborate with you to reach your individual goals. As a licensed marriage and family therapist I have years of experience working with individuals of all ages and specialized training including Brainspotting, EMDR, Expressive Art, and Neurofeedback. What I have learned over the years is that we are all unique individuals and every therapy process is going to be different than the last. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy as a framework to help bring about desired changes, and build on that framework with an integrated, positive, and creative approach. I believe when we are open to it, a therapy process can be the best self care. It is an honor to witness positive changes when one is able to overcome negative core beliefs and unlock their potential in life. I look forward to working with you. LMFT #113863

Maybe your life seemed fine until recently, and maybe you’ve been struggling longer than you can remember. Either way, I’m here to help. I work with all ages, genders, sexualities, racial backgrounds, cultures, and subcultures. From work stress to identity crises, communication problems to childhood trauma, all issues need space to breathe, and a big part of that is finding a therapist you can be real with. I specialize in working with alternative lifestyles; if the system isn’t working for you, I will. Like good art, therapy with me aims to comfort those in challenging positions, and challenge the comfortable. I have understanding in many areas, but you are the expert of your life. I’m not claiming to be superhuman, just someone who's made it my job to care. LMFT #140236

With over ten years in SF community mental health, I bring my experience and open mind to Bay Area Therapy Group’s Co-Clinical Directorship collaborating with leadership, clinicians, community, and insurances to keep our beautiful clinic going. Growing up in San Francisco and the Bay Area gives me a lot of insight into the different needs of clients with mental health services, especially those who are marginalized and often find it difficult to receive the care that is deserved. As a therapist, I am a certified sex and gender educator who has spent my career supporting 2sLGBTQIA individuals and relationships especially those who would like support from a BDSM/kink, polyam/ethical non-monogamy (ENM), Sex Worker knowledgeable clinician. CBT, Solution Focused, Christian Counseling
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Southern California. I am the mother of two adult children and a four-legged Bully Mix named Shotgun, who earned his name by always claiming the front passenger seat in any moving vehicle. In my free time, I love to travel, and my bucket list is nowhere near completion. I work with adults and couples, and I specialize in anxiety, stress, and intimate relationship conflicts using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy and Christian Faith based therapy if requested to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for couples and individuals who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I try to establish an environment where the client feels free to share anything with me. I have always been that go-to person among friends, family, and co-workers as a safe place where you can speak freely without judgment. LMFT #146024

As a therapist, I draw from an eclectic mix of evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, ACT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Seeking Safety. With over 12 years of experience in the human services field, I have provided mental health services in schools, client homes, outpatient programs, within community settings, via telehealth, and inpatient psychiatric settings. CBT, Mindfulness-Based, Radical Acceptance, Expressive Therapies
We are living in unprecedented times. There is a sense of uncertainty and unease, which has affected each of us in different ways. Many people are feeling anxious, depressed, or a combination of both. Some are feeling lonely and isolated. You might be feeling unusually irritable or easily annoyed. Maybe you’re using food, alcohol or other substances, in order to “cope”, distract, and/or numb out. For those of you with a history of trauma, and/or mental illness, your usual coping skills just don’t seem to be working. I’ve been a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist for over 25 years. I've devoted my life to helping people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, unresolved grief; work and relationship issues; and chronic mental illness. I’ve worked with children, adolescents and adults in community mental health; inpatient psychiatric hospitals, recovery day treatment programs. For the past five years, I've been working with young vets who are struggling with debilitating symptoms of PTSD, as a result of having served multiple deployments to Iraq, and Afghanistan. These vets have lived through unimaginable horrors and are simply trying to get through each day. What I’ve learned in the past 5 years about trauma and grief: Sometimes, less is more. Keep it simple. Listen, make space. Go slow. Be kind. Be gentle. Be present. I work with clients based on my sense of what will be most helpful for them. I generally use some form of CBT. I use Mindfulness Based techniques. Sometimes, I’ll use the concept of Radical Acceptance, when a client is in a particularly difficult place. I encourage clients to practice self-forgiveness and self-empathy, when they are able to. At times, I use Expressive Therapies; in particular, I’ve used writing exercises with clients who are working through grief. LMFT #30133

Hi, I’m Kadeth Look at you, so brave. You just did the hardest thing: taking that risk to reach out, trusting some stranger with your heart, mind and spirit…with your true self. I’m grateful you stopped to look at me. What do we do here? We get to know each other a bit and build a safe space together. We follow the path of your discomfort and figure out ways to understand, work with, and release it. I examine patterns, social or family and some cultural and generational. Let’s look at these patterns together, map them, and design tools. More than anything, I learn about who you are and who you wish to become, and I support that journey. I’m part of the communities I work with and provide identity affirming care to those marginalized populations, specifically adults and those looking to transition later in life. Some of the populations I work with include the LGBTQ community, the BDSM/kink community, M/s, D/s, and littles as well as neurodivergent folk...and all of the intersections and beautiful complexities. I also work with religious trauma and support diverse spiritualities like TST, pagan, earth based or other spiritual beliefs. To those who question and explore: you are safe here. As a therapist, I am relational, interactive, and directive when I need to be. I am able to hold that silent deep feeling space we all need as well. After hours, I am an artist and musician. In the summertime, you may see me working with molten glass. I have too many pets, and we feed Odin’s messengers here. Let’s get to know each other. LMFT #126444

Relational, Feminist, Psychodynamic
Hi, I’m Katie. I’m a queer, relational, feminist therapist, have worked with clients in the Bay Area for over 15 years and I love what I do. As a relational therapist, I focus on how past and present relationships, including the relationship we have with ourselves, shape our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I work with clients to identify destructive relational patterns in order to build healthier and stronger connections and boost self-confidence. I also consider the therapeutic relationship between a therapist and client as a key tool for healing and we work together to gain insights, alleviate hurt and improve personal relationships with self as well as with others. As a feminist, I take an intersectional approach to my work and look critically through lenses of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and spirituality in addition to family of origin, cognition and behavior. I believe our social positioning and cultural context has a significant impact on our overall mental health and better understanding it can lead to lasting healing. I specialize in working with adults on anxiety/stress/burnout, major life transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, non-binary, transgender and gender expansive expression and identification, polyamorous/non-monogamous relationships and self-esteem. I also have extensive experience working with gender-based trauma and abusive relationships. On a more personal level, those closest to me describe me as genuine, relatable, energetic, warm and funny. I do have a sense of humor and am not afraid to use it, even in psychotherapy. LMFT #51625

I'm a therapist who utilizes a variety of different approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy. I have worked with clients from many different walks of life and in many different settings, such as high schools, colleges, community clinics, and in private practice. My practice centers healing, belonging, and liberation through trauma-informed, client-centered care. I specialize in working with 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and adults, especially folks holding multiple marginalized identities. I approach therapy with the core understanding that the systems that we navigate deeply impact our mental health and wellbeing. My work integrates evidence-based practices with liberation-centered, anti-oppressive frameworks such as healing justice, disability justice, racial justice, body liberation, and decolonizing. I work with folks on navigating identity exploration, shame, relational conflicts, depression and anxiety, trauma, and negative self-image. I want to know: what does healing mean for you? I believe that you are the expert on your own experiences, and through the connection of our therapeutic relationship, I hope to facilitate your deepened self-exploration and agency in how you want to move toward change on your healing journey. In therapy, I make space for: the impact of systemic issues on your well-being, your creative practices, your rituals, your self-care practices, your community care, and exploring cooking and baking as expressive arts and healing tools LCSW #133632

Humanistic, Solution-Focused, Gottman Level 1
Let's be honest, no one ever dreams of having to see a therapist. People come into therapy for a variety of reasons, but whatever your reason may be, I'm glad you're here. I often treat people struggling with drug and/or gambling addictions, depression, anxiety, trauma, family problems, and life transitions. Whatever your struggle is, my goal is to help you feel supported in finding your strength in our sessions. I spent the start of my career in community mental health, where I served individuals and families at several local schools and in community settings, before transitioning into private practice. Much of my focus has been around supporting folks who are in the LGBTQ, kink, and poly communities. I offer a therapy approach that is trauma-informed, Humanistic, sex-positive, and strength-based. I also have experience in working with people with substance use and gambling addictions. Outside of session, you will likely see me in the gym, singing at karaoke, or eating a large amount of fried food in my car. LMFT #123907

Are you struggling with the relationships in your life? Or with figuring yourself out at the core of who you are? My whole life I have studied people, and patterns, and how we affect each other relationally. I graduated from Mills college with a BA in Psychology, and a minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality studies, and from John F. Kennedy University with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. I have a long history of working with non-profit organizations and LGBTQ+ activism, and my focus has been on helping folks explore alternative relationship styles and sexualities, such as polyamory, and power-exchange dynamics found in BDSM. I love working with couples, and helping them explore what their relationship means to them, how they want it to look, and how to get there. I guide people through exploring gender, sexuality, and other personal relationships, so they can feel safe and empowered to create the life they want. I also love helping people figure out who they are as an individual, how to improve self-care, and feel secure in their identity. LMFT #133441

CBT, DBT
My commitment to this work started with the knowledge that everyone needs a place to speak freely: a non-judgmental, non-punitive ear. It is an honor to create that space for my clients and share the message that we are all far less broken than we think we are. My therapy practice is rooted in the belief that every individual is capable of growth, healing, and self-actualization when provided with the right tools. I primarily use Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to assist my clients in defining areas of improvement and completing meaningful steps toward their goals. Our work together will be driven by your self-reflection and focused on improving self-efficacy via practical strategies, improvement of coping skills, and comprehensive self-care. I have worked with clients ages 2 to 92, managing, in a nutshell, the human condition. I also work with Women's Issues, Young Adults & Adolescents, Couples, LGBTQIA2S+, Trauma, Immigrant Experiences/Trauma, BIPOC. I am committed to creating a safe, collaborative space where all my clients feel understood and supported as they do the vulnerable work of therapy. As a first-generation immigrant, woman of color, and member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, I understand the importance of intersectionality and the complicated nature of managing authenticity in systems and families that may not appreciate who you are. Know that when you are working with me, no masking is necessary, and all identities, faiths, races, and cultures are welcome. LMFT #162049

I provide compassionate, structured, and evidence-based therapy focused on helping clients create meaningful change both inside and outside of the therapy session. My clinical experience spans diverse populations and settings, including children, adolescents, transition-age youth (TAY), adults, justice-involved individuals, and foster care populations, LGBTQ+ individuals, and culturally diverse communities. I specialize in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through an integrated approach that addresses the whole person rather than treating conditions separately. My therapeutic style incorporates evidence-based modalities including DBT, CBT/CBT-p, Solution-Focused Therapy, Supportive Therapy, trauma-informed care, and addiction treatment, while tailoring care to each client’s individual goals and needs. Collaboration and continuity of care are central to my practice, and I frequently work alongside other providers and community support to ensure comprehensive treatment. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory, my approach emphasizes strengthening autonomy, competence, and connection so clients can build lasting coping skills and emotional resilience. Areas of focus commonly include anxiety, depression, trauma and complex PTSD, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, substance use and recovery, grief, anger and impulse control, sleep disturbances, and family or relationship conflict. Clients can expect a supportive, goal-oriented environment that includes practical coping strategies, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing progress monitoring to support long-term growth and wellness. CBT, Mindfulness-Based Practices
Originally from New York, I lived in Maine for many years before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2018.I received my master's degree in social work in 2005 from the University of Maine and my LCSW in 2007. My undergraduate degree is in philosophy, and I decided to go into social work so I could put the ideas I was studying into practical use helping others explore what it means to have a life worth living. While studying philosophy, I became interested in Eastern thought and spirituality and began a meditation practice that has remained an important part of my own healing journey. Since becoming a social worker, I’ve worked in community mental health providing services for adults including case management, individual therapy, and group counseling. I also worked for several years at an inpatient psychiatric hospital where I learned the importance of reducing stigma and mobilizing community support for people struggling with acute mental illness. Currently, I enjoy working individually with adults to help them learn how to recognize and change unhealthy and painful patterns in their lives and develop compassion for themselves and others. The work is not always easy or comfortable, but it is rewarding, and it has the power to bring lasting, positive change to our lives. I enjoy playing pickleball, hiking, knitting, and movies. I love animals and spending time in nature. A few years ago I began a whole-food plant-based diet, and I enjoy cooking and trying out new, healthy recipes. LCSW #92059
